Ok lessee... So far, there's been a slaughtered Direwolf, a decapitated horse (looks like the mafia can time travel), and tons of horses being ridden for long periods. How much longer before some extremist from PETA sends HBO an angry letter?

That scene made me uncomfortable enough in the book. In the TV series I couldn't even look at the screen. By comparison I think I felt less uncomfortable when the Knight of Flowers was shaving Renly's chest.

Is it only me? I want that dragon skull :P

The cliffhanger was not as huge as previous times, yet still big enough to make me hunger for the next ep.

I'm trying to read the book at the same time on my phone, but I'm only at page 200-ish of the 800 :P

Now that threw me for a complete loop! Maybe its been too long since I've read the books but Martin never directly referred to a romance between them that I can remember. It makes sense I guess when I think of Storm of Swords and some of the stuff in that book but dude, wow... were they just trying to appeal to a larger demographic or something with that scene? Do any of you remember seeing something in the book(s) that was direct about a romance for them?

I haven't read the books so I'm certainly no expert on the subject, but according to the wiki:

"He is the secret lover of Renly Baratheon, though their forbidden relationship is known to various others at court. He squired for Renly."

Its also apparently "plainly obvious" in book 2, according to this pretty adept review of the episode on tv.com:

It caught me off guard as well. I wasn't sure if that was Renly until the Knight of Flowers talked about how Renly should rule the seven kingdoms instead. I knew that skinny man couldn't possibly be hard-as-nails Stannis, especially with the Knight's loyalty, so it had to be Renly. Still, whether it was in the book or not, I do have some trouble ignoring the incessant pandering throughout the series. That aside, I still love the series.

So who has watched the latest episode?

Little less...okay a lot less... confronting than last week's.

Lots to love though - the sword fight was the best though.

"You do not fight with honour"

"He did"

:P

And the final scene - brutal!

That was pretty sweet. Quite a scene really. I've been rooting for Catelyn Stark for most of the series thus far, but once they entered the Erie, she seemed like such a villain, supporting that travesty of a justice system. I also wanted to slap that kid. It would have been awesome if Tyrion got the chance to do that. He's my little hero who slaps slappable children for me :D . I wonder what that boy would be saying if someone held him over the pit and asked if he wanted to fly  .

As for Viscerys, I'd already read the book, so I knew what was about to happen. How was it seeing that happen without knowing about it beforehand?

***SPOILER*** Oh god yes. Seeing Sansa protest to her father about that boy being the only one for her helped remind me of just how responsible she was for what happens to her later. I'm starting to feel that she totally deserves her unhappy marriage. My opinion may be skewed a bit since I'm just not that big a fan of kids.

Even when I knew exactly what was next in the story line, it's still surprising.
By and large the best episode thus far. Absolutely incredible.

***Spoiler*** (Crosses self) Father, I have sinned. I was watching Games of Thrones with my mother last night and it ended on such a cliffhanger that she said, "Oh my. Does Ned end up dying?" Because I'm such a bad liar, I told her the truth, spoiling one of the most defining moments in Game of Thrones. My mother forgave me, but will all of you?

Well most of us have read the books so I think you're okay for the most part ;) :D :heavydrink:

However, if you finish the next book before I do and give out spoilers of it on the forum then we may need to have "words" on the boat  :P

What did you think of the episode by the way? I fell even more in love with Drogo. Trying to remember the exact quote, something like "Moon of my life, are you hurt?" Sooo cute. Followed by brutal masculine ferocity. Fucking fantastic lol.

hahaha yeah - and when he was stomping around the fire and blurted out something about raping their women as a way to avenge his wife. Priceless

Jason Momoa is a MONSTER of a man  And he has apparently been cast as Conan in a film out this year. Should be interesting.

Does Ned end up dying?" Because I'm such a bad liar, I told her the truth, spoiling one of the most defining moments in Game of Thrones. My mother forgave me, but will all of you?

Maybe we should ask the mods to change your name from sageoftruth to spoileralert ;)

The episode was pretty intense. I made sure to call my dad in during the scene at Littlefinger's brothel. I find it funny how the blatant pandering thrown in by HBO was the hook that got my dad interested. I suppose nothing else in the series would unless one of the families was called JP Morgan or Goldman Sachs (He was a really big fan of "Too Big to Fail"). After that scene ended, he pretty much went back to reading his financial statements.

Well, now that I've finally *kind of* caught up on the series (still haven't had a chance to watch the most recent ep, will be this week though :D ) I must say I am SOOOO impressed with the casting and the actors. That being said, just WOW at that Loras and Renly scene  I do NOT recall that being in the book haha

I've alwaysssss been in love with Drogo, you can totally add me to the Drogo Rape Team :D Epitome of manliness infused with gentleness. I was getting a little irritated in the first 2 eps because they were kind of leaving out his compassionate side. I was all  at the love scene with him and Dany where he calls her by her name for the first time - and they left that out!!

Thanks! My company acquired a new ER this year, so unfortunately I've been guilt tripped into picking up extra shifts, which has fubar-ed my forum and sit-on-my-ass time  However, those extra shifts DO make it easier to be onbroad, so I suppose I can forgive them :D

Oh yeah. That. About that, I know that the book Game of Thrones was not PG, but when they took it to TV, they appeared to turn the sex appeal up to 11. Even if it was already at 10, some of the scenes, like the shaving scene with Renly and Loras, or the numerous brothel scenes just gave me images of guys at a desk going, "George Martin's material is pretty good, but how about we give it more breasts and try to make it sexier, then watch as the ratings go up." I guess I saw it that way because I occasionally watch the seires alongside my family and I didn't want them to think that I watched it just to see breasts.

I've been watching it over the past week or so. It's up on Netflix and Hulu so I've been enjoying the hell out of it.
