I'm only interested in: Agalloch, Morgion, Ghoul, Unanimated, Today Is The Day, and Unsane (only 20 minutes Max, cause they get really boring after that)
I'm REALLY surprised they have Rorschach... what with how metal fans hate hardcore, and Rorschach being classic hardcore

And Dan, don't be a douche, just go. If you are RETIRED, you have no excuse. Unless you're just a "douche" of the highest order.

With the line up complete, now all I hope is half of the headliners don't cancel, most importantly, Agalloch. I've never had the opportunity to watch them and they've been consistently spinning on my playlists since the late 90s. Will be most amazing. No problem paying for all of it either since I'll get my tax returns after 70k!

Yeah, that would up the cost quite a bit. I think it took us a little under $100 to drive there and back last May. Even with the 60 dollars for parking, that's still kind of dirt cheap.

I tell you - too many great festivals and not enough time and money! I really want to go to MDF this year - what a great line- up! :D I already have a hotel booked for the Wave-Gotik-Treffen fest in Leipzig, Germany which takes place May 25-28....but I just found out that a favorite nephew of mine named Luke will be getting married on a beach in Florida (sound familiar Bentz? :beerwink:) on May 26th, so it looks like a family trip it is! Not too sad actually - as I wouldn't want to miss his wedding!

So, have fun at MDF everyone - I'll get there one of these years! :beerbang:

I'm starting to debate on if I should plan on attending this, for the first time. I tentatively have the time off, but a lot can happen in 9 months. Then again, I did book this cruise that far in advance, both times... hmm...

Not sure what the debate is, based on the lineup, seems like a no brainer. The event itself isn't held in the "prettiest" of areas, but it's not an issue at all. Hotel across the street and downtown Baltimore just a short drive away makes it easy. You don't even have to rent a car either (at least I don't).

And this year was my first time as well

Hah, well there's no debate that the event will be great. At the risk of sounding like an emo bitch, my concern is peoples to enjoy it with! I have a hard time going to shows by myself, and ever since I've moved to Chicago it's been tough - Laura is pracitcally the only person I've met! I'm sure an event as such can and will bring other forumites out there, but I'm not very close with anyone, as I don't post regularly and whatnot... /emo

If i were to go, I'd probably drive it. Wouldn't be that bad methinks.

Matthew - really? I'm surprised - you're a really nice, smart and fun person to be around! I mean that! :beerwink: Let's see, we went out for burgers and some beers last summer when I met you via this forum, and then I saw you at at least four Chicago gigs since then (and four AMAZING ones I might add!): Dimmu Borgir/Enslaved (so fun to meet Grutle at the Exit afterwards!), Triptykon/1349, Amon Amarth and AGALLOCH!!! Great times. :heavydrink:

Such kind words Laura!
But ya, I haven't met any else around here that I can inquire about going to shows in the area. Someday...

And yeah, all the shows we've been to were pretty fantastic!!

Yes, I did Scott, and missed you there for sure. If it wasn't for you and a few other people, I may not have taken the plunge and done this trip - so I'm very grateful to you for that. I just got back a week ago today and I've been super busy and haven't finished organizing my pix and my full review yet of the fest - hopefully in the next few days. It was a very surreal experience for me and it has been hard for me to put it into words. I am SO glad I met Herb (really nice!) and also Linda from Norway and a woman from Seattle named Vicki - would love to stay in touch with Herb and Vicki - I'll pm 'ya to get their contact info . Btw, I posted a few pix on the post your pix thread so far - one is with Herb.

Now who wants to make some plans! lol.. :3drunks:

The only people I knew there last year, they were working merch tables the entire fest. So basically it was my fiance and me the whole trip. There was a party on the street of every hotel within walking distance of the venue after the final band of the night though. I'd definitely be down for meeting up with some folks to drink some brews before, during, and after. Last May we went to this spot called Mick O'Sheas a block or so above the Superfresh / Liquor store on N. Charles St. Wouldn't mind going there again. Really, really good hungover food. Good selection of brew. Big burgers and whatnot. The most important place is the 24 hour Subway though! Cheap and always at least tolerable.

Do you know Ryan and Meredith? I thought I remember seeing a photo of all of you and Laura at a show this year.

I didn't know ANYONE that wasn't on the cruise. We had like a group of about 10 that I knew from the forum/cruise and had a blast.

Just don't be anti social on the cruise and you'll know plenty of us cool kids that like it "heavy & brutal" to enjoy MDF with  :headbanger:

Aye, we met at the first leg of the Amon Amarth show earlier this year.

It's not that I'm antisocial... I just suck at being social in general! But with a little help from my friend Dack Janiel's, I get better.

I'll simply keep my eyes open for goings on from here on out. That'll learn me.
