WHERE'S OUR FIRST BAND ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 70K 2013???? :bitch: :bitch: :bitch:

    Too soon?

Seriously though, just as an FYI, the initial string of announcements after 2011 went:

20 march - SAILORS... GET READY FOR JANUARY 2012!!!
30 march - 70000TONS OF METAL Round 2: January 23-27, 2012 Sailors... Get ready to receive your orders!
31 march - 70000TONS OF METAL 2012: Miami, FL - George Town, Cayman Islands - Miami, FL; Sailors... Get ready to welcome the first artists!
19 april - Please welcome the first 7 out of 40 bands on board: Eluveitie, Grave Digger, My Dying Bride, Pestilence, Stratovarius, Therion, Tristania
20 april - Veterans... Check Your Inbox!

Looking back at that, if the first announcement is of that calibre I'll be so tempted. I ended up seeing 11 of the 14 possible sets from those 7 bands!

Purely conjecture here with no factual basis, but I envisage that this time around BTH will be the top priority of UMC, and so the first string of band announcements will be for Barge. And highly likely that 70K 2013 will be pushed back a bit later in the year.

Yes. The EDM set was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, might even be the best. The pool deck set on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. Does Rob really need the lyrics sheets for all the songs? Seemed to me he spent most of the gig looking at the sheets. And the band seemed to enjoy the special set more too.

Yeah, Ossi and Chrissy are going. I'm still undecided, not many bands I'd want to see.
But at the very least I'll be in town for the weekend, so I'll see everyone after the bands in bars. :beerwink:

Oh, they just announced yesterday that DOM won't have any metal events anymore and that they're playing strictly disco from now on.

    You're kidding me!!!???

I was expecting to hang out at DOM until 4 am every morning this year too!

    Fuck!

What place should I go to instead, Perkele?
I don't even know where that is

Yeah, I'm afraid it's true.

PRKL (or Perkele) is only like 200 meters from the railway station. I can lead the way. :beerwink:

I didn't buy any merch on the cruise, so I purchased a survivor t-shirt now instead. 25 bucks + 12 for shipping. How much did they cost on the cruise?

Yeah, there wasn't much of a line the second day the merch store was open. I think the first day lots of people went because they were worried shirts would sell out fast in certain sizes like last year

I would totally wear them with fishnets and boots, EXCEPT Jeff's mom is going to the show :|
So I probably shouldn't dress like a metal slut.

Yeah, there wasn't much of a line the second day the merch store was open. I think the first day lots of people went because they were worried shirts would sell out fast in certain sizes like last year

I'm glad I got in on the first day, because the cruise specific Candlemass shirt I wanted did sell out completely. By the time I got to the merch table they only had size Small left, which fits me nicely so I'm happy.

I did line up early in the day but then gave up 'cause I didn't want to miss Orphaned Land at 2:30pm But went back there later when the line had started thinning out a bit.

So that means probably May, or June at the earliest.

Hey I forget easily, and I'm a positive guy (most of the time) so I think we'll get some before the end of April :D

What would be cool, if it is available, would be the dates, so I could start working my head around BTH and 70k and see what is possible to do.

I was just thinking, with Barge To Hell now in the works, things might be delayed a bit more, pushed back a bit. When was the first announement last year, around mid April? I could be wrong (and I hope I am!) but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any announcement until at least May.

I think there's a chance that we get the first announcements for both cruises soon (ha!). At least if 70k is still in January, it would be nice and wise to give both cruise's details so people can decide which one to book. I'd imagine there'd be a lot of cancellations for Barge if 70k has something really special planned.

The easiest would, of course, be just to announce Emperor for Barge and let us book our cabins.

You're right, there is a chance both cruises could get announced at around the same time. I'm more likely to go on 70k if I go again at all, unless a doom band is announced for barge that I can't resist. Not really into extreme metal that much. I like it in small doses, but couldn't handle 4 days stuck on a boat with it, that would bore the hell outta me.

Imagine the long string of possible no announcements this year, when they will be busy organising Barge. People will go nuts
