I thought Paranormal Activity was one the worst movies ive seen in a longggg time. I stuck it till the end hoping it wouldnt get decent but it failed; however, one of the alternate endings was hilarious. She gets gunned down in the hallway by what looked like SWAT, so that made the movie tolerable and not a total waste of time.

Ah, one of the three things im a total spoiled snob about...music, movies, and beer. Here is just a small list of some of my favorites

    Dead Alive/Braindead
    Dead and Breakfast
    Shaun of the Dead
    Predator
    Alien
Anything by Akira Kurosawa (Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood, Yojimbo etc)
Anything by Takashi Miike (Gozu, Ichi the Killer, The Audition, Imprint etc)
Park Chan-wook's Revenge Trilogy (Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Lady Vengeance)
The Host (Korean monster movie that is easily in the top 3 best monster movies)
    H (Korean thriller)
Memories of Murder (Korean drama about South Korea's first serial killer)
    The Hidden Blade
    Twilight Samurai
Uzumaki (A Japanese horror movie that is VERY Lovecraft-ish)
    Tokyo Gore Police
    Vampire Girl VS Frankenstein Girl
    Shaun of the Dead
    Hot Fuzz
    Rambo Series
Men In Black (only the first since the second is up there for being one of the worst movies ever)
    District 9
Dark City (Easily one of the best dark sci-fi movies)
    Event Horizon
    American Gangster
    Virtuosity
All of the Zatoichi movies starring Shintaro Katsu
Everything ive seen starring Toshiro Mifune
    ID4
    Con Air
    The Rock

I can go on and on and on. I primarily watch Asian cinema and decided to list more of them instead of all of the typical american movies I can watch on repeat

Men in Black, Con Air and ID4 sucked to me. You mentioned SOTD twice

Another couple that I really liked

And I just wanted to add that I "hate this @#%#$ thread"!!

Because movies are a taste of the viewer and to me its stupid to talk about what movies are your favorite because there are always some people who are going to chime in "how horrible" the movies on your list are. So I will bow out

I am getting ready to watch Peter Pan (Disney)

I also would likde the 158 minutes back from watching 2012 in its entirety last night on Starz on demand. Hands down the worst disaster movie ever. The Towering Inferno was better. The Day after Tomorrow was better. But nothing beats Red Dawn.

Best film ever is the original Transformers the Movie.
The animated one.Not those gay CG versions released over the last few years.
The original one had amazing artwork,Great storyline.Film was full of great action and it also had probbaly the best Soundtrack of all time.
Mostly 80's metal and rock bands .
If you haven't seen this film then you should go and see it right away.

I love movies. I won't go into a list because a few of my favorites have already been listed. I love horror, sci-fi, comedies, cheesy action, etc.

Netflix is the best thing ever.

One movie that I was pleasantly surprised by recently was "World's Greatest Dad" with Robin Williams and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. I thought it was hysterical. I shouldn't have been too surprised since it is coming from the guy who did "Shakes the Clown". :death:

I'm already kind of a Nolan fanboy.. but Inception was easily the best movie I've seen this year.

Just saw KICK-ASS the other day.. and I have to say that movie is vastly underrated. It definitely should have made more than 20 million. When I saw the trailers I thought it looked ok.. but it was pretty awesome.
Not the most high-brow stuff mind you (especially when compared to something like inception), but it had some of the most intense action sequences and humorous dialogue I've seen in a while.

Yeah, Kick-Ass was pretty entertaining. Nicholas Cage got on my nerves though.

Though not technically a movie, we finally worked our way through the first season of Dexter on Netflix streaming. Now I know why everybody was telling me it was great. Now on to Season 2.

Great thread - fun to read! I almost didn't want to respond to this because it is a bit overwhelming for me to think of all the movies I've seen and what really stands out. Also...my movie taste pretty much runs the gamut from Sound of Music to Superbad (like my music taste - Mozart to Marduk) Hmmmmm......

Across the Universe, Amadeus (just saw this again on the plane home from Europe - Mozart!!!), Animal House, Annie Hall, Apocalypse Now, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Big Lebowski, Bladerunner, Blue Velvet, Blues Brothers, Braveheart, Dazed and Confused, Deerhunter, Departed, Easy Rider, Gangs of New York, Gladiator, Godfather Trilogy, Gone With the Wind, Harry Potter movies, Jesus Christ Superstar, Karate Kid (80's and 2010!), LOTR Trilogy, Last of the Mohicans, Little Ashes (Salvador Dali biopic starring R. Pattinson!), Mad Max, Matrix, Midnight Express, Pineapple Express, My Beautiful Launderette, Pulp Fiction, Romeo and Juliet (1968 version), Saturday Night Fever, Say Anything, School of Rock, Sid & Nancy (Sid Vicious biopic), Sideways, Slumdog Millionaire, Sound of Music, Sweeney Todd, Superbad, Taxi Driver, There Will be Blood, Tommy, Twilight movies, Up in Smoke (Cheech & Chong stoner classic), United 93 (difficult to watch yet unbelievably powerful!) West Side Story.
P.S. I also believe I've seen just about every "kid" movie that has come out - a few of my faves - the Toy Story movies and Wall-E.

Favorite tv shows ever....Lost (number 1), Prime Suspect (Helen Mirren), Seinfeld, Simpsons and Family Guy

thought I'd add a few images from some of my favorite comedies....

Last movie I saw at the theater was Dinner For Schmucks, which was stupidly hilarious. Good for some yucks.

I've been told The Expendables will scratch the itch for anyone needing excessive amounts of explosions, stabbings, shooting and general ass kickery in the 80's style...count me in :death:

Grindhouse : Planet Terror & Death Proof
    Better off Dead

My favorite two movies ever are Hellboy and Serenity. Have framed posters of both of them hanging up in bedroom.

And love all the Tarentino/Rodriguez directed movies, have posters of most of them in my living room.

I love this list. Period. I'll have to do up my own list with a few additions - awesome how many Kevin Smith movies you have on there as well as Tarantino (I would recommend Jackie Brown and Four Rooms if you haven't seen them).

Though not technically a movie, we finally worked our way through the first season of Dexter on Netflix streaming. Now I know why everybody was telling me it was great. Now on to Season 2.

    Dexter season 1: Superb, 2: great, 3:weak 4: great.

Ahhh I missed the first episode of the new season! Agreed with your descriptions of the seasons. Kind of interesting to see where they're taking it considering the story in the books was done some time ago, 4th season finale... ahck! Soooo good!
