If you don't mind me asking - what happened at SNW that you wished you would have done differently?
Sounds like we are in similar situations. Im just a year ahead of you which is why i went to SNW and when we were young this year. At SNW i tried to buy some band merch but i didnt show up before it opened and when i finally got in i watched a band first. When I got in the merch line i spent 4 hours in it and missed ice nine kills. I like the stuff i bought but would much rather have seen ice nine kills. Also not keeping sunscreen with me. I burn like crazy. Corrected both of these things for when we were young in October.
FYI, while you are on the Boat, there are an army of pool girls/guys that are there to spray you and keep you from burning...a huge benefit for those fair skinned people like us. It works like going to the car wash...very efficient system. Also, the only outdoor venue in the pool deck. If you spend most of your time at the shows, the other venue are indoors. Each venue has it's own charm.
As long as people aren't using that as their only bathing method on the boat  - then I am all too happy! (We've all been to shows where there's the invisible wall of B.O. that hits ya like a ton of bricks). Joking aside - it actually gets that hot/sunny on the deck? I'm just trying to imagine it - seems like such an alien concept to me

Hope everyone got their spots - I got a place down the strip that's about a 5 minute walk from the clevelander; always gotta shop the specials - told my acquaintances that as well not to wait too long - but I guess they have a method to their last second madness (a few of them are multi year survivors). I just like having the ducks in a row so I don't have to worry about it :beerwink:

Cool. I stayed at the Essex last year and it was okay, but this year I'm driving in with a friend and I don't think ANY of the hotels in South Beach offer parking during the cruise, so I'll have to stay at a stay-park-cruise hotel that does. Those are generally over by the airport, so we might not make it to the Beach Party either.

Yes it does. It doesn't take long to go from tan to burn, plus you'll have multiple days of exposure. A good rule if you're not use to our climate is to ALWAYS have sunscreen on when you'll be outside for more than a brief period. To put this in perspective, if you're on the pool deck catching a show during the day you will most likely be in direct sunlight unless you're very careful and conscious of staying in the shade. That's 45 to an hour in direct sunlight, that's enough time to start getting a good tan. Stick around for another show on the pool deck or come back later for one or even the next day and you're on the way to getting sun burned. It all adds up and it adds up much quicker than you think it will. If you wait to put on sunscreen until you think you need it, it's too late.

Also, drink lots of water. It's easy to get dehydrated when out in the sun without realizing it (especially when drinking alcohol as well).

Appreciate it dear! I'm a northerner with blonde hair and blue eyes - so for my skin I have to get a gradual exposure tan, then I don't burn - but it sounds like there won't be gradual here... :p I will bring a refillable water bottle as well - heard there aren't too many filling stations though so I better remember to fill up before heading to a show!

Yeah, you definitely want sunscreen. The pool folk can help you apply if you need it (they should be obvious). On the bright side, the pool deck is the same deck as the Windjammer, so you can get a refill there.

Really? Full service pool people - they do that too? LOL Actually - the back and shoulders for sure! Would be weird if I went up to some rando and said "It puts the lotion on my skin so I don't burns again!!" Good to know Toby; thanks!

Yeah, helping sunscreen people up and greeting people coming aboard are their main duties. Well, that and taking photos on the beach for the pool boy/girl calendar. From what I recall, they have sunscreen, but will gladly apply it to back and shoulders for you. I'm sure the average rando will help also, but you never know what you'll get. lol

Ugh- but not surprised; there are many beautiful people from what I've seen in the pics and it seems to give a select few the feeling they can come on strong because it's an experience that may never happen again and they can't let "the moment" pass them by! Appreciate the insight~

Thankfully, it's still just a few. Most of the survivors will try to watch out for bad behavior, but whenever there are more first timers, there will inevitably be a few bad apples among them. But like I said, thankfully still very rare.

Glad to hear and happy to know there are good people watching!
