I'm not gonna ask how you know what is and what isn't available to book.
Nah, it’s always a few days before we sail.
I dont see it moving that quick. I think there will definitely be more opportunity for newcomers this year, but with everything so late I just dont see, especially non-US cruisers, booking.
Concur. It will be "sold out" but not really sold out.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 7:17 pmI dont see it moving that quick. I think there will definitely be more opportunity for newcomers this year, but with everything so late I just dont see, especially non-US cruisers, booking.
Because, newbies will not have risked booking flights or accommodation yet without a cabin confirmed. And if you look at flights now they are REALLY expensive.
So I think the 'sold out' sign will go up in the final 3 days, with it being anyones guess as to whether it truly IS "sold out"
Do you have an estimate on the total number of available cabins before sales started? Curious what percentage sold it is
Total count LAST TIME was 1877. As noted there seem to be a few .... "unaccounted for" this time around - but for what its worth I put the count at 1,834 cabins.
2019 cruise, 6 hours after public sales opening:
Yeah, I'm kinda shocked that 2V is still available. It didn't seem like many sold out today that weren't already sold out.
Well it's great that there are still cheaper options available. Maybe that will convince people who were on the fence to attend.
Kind of expected, IMO. 2020 was an outlier because there was no reason to think it wouldn't happen at that time. But this time, I don't think as many people believed it was going to really happen with the late band announcements. So, even though they could have made hotel and flight reservations, they didn't because there was no guarantee it would come together.
Gonna be an interesting year. And as I intimated on the Facebook group, there's a chance it will be the last.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 3:20 pm2019 cruise, 6 hours after public sales opening:

2023 cruise currently (about 5 1/2 hours after public sales opening):
Total Cabins in sold out categories: 458
Slower. Definitely slower. The fact that newbies can still opt for the 2nd-cheapest quad cabin is testament to that fact.
Things definitely going backwards. And unsurprisingly the later things start, the slower sales are!
Yeah maybe smoke and mirrors?Downvod wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 3:39 am I was revisiting the 2020 version of this thread. For a good while after public sales that year, there were a ton of cabin types available, and we were estimating it at about 75% sold (best case). Then, in mid-December, a ton of the cabin types started selling out in the middle of an announcement drought. Many suspected some kind of smoke and mirrors, but the listed guest count for that year was 3020, only 70 or so shy of the two previous years.
Do we think the official stats are accurate or full of shit? I don’t recall 2020 being noticeably thin on people whilst on board. If they did have over 3,000 guests, how the hell did they manage to fill cabins so late? It will be interesting to see if the same happens again this time.
I am trying to figure out why would anyone would book 2D doubles if the 4B is still available. The 4B is a larger version of the 2D for the exact same price.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 2:32 pm 2D doubles gone - that's a massive 252 cabins off the market.

Could be that they had a preferred deck selection? I don't remember how much difference there is on that with 2D vs. 4B.
Or maybe a specific cabin selection because that's what they had on a previous cruise? Who knows. It's like asking why some Gold survivors waited until public sales to book. People are funny. lolPharaoh wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:27 amCould be that they had a preferred deck selection? I don't remember how much difference there is on that with 2D vs. 4B.
Or, maybe all the 4Bs were reserved in the initial booking rush and then some canceled.
I've got a 4B. So I can ultimately only speculate.
Maybe it's all the n00bs not knowing any better?
Yeah, I was more thinking of when the sold out sign goes up, but I've noticed there's always a lot of "join the waitlist" stuff and I've always wondered if it's truly ever sold out 100%. I feel like you got the stats on it once and found one of them truly did sell out? Maybe I'm misremembering though.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 7:17 pmI dont see it moving that quick. You are absolutely correct one year - 2018 - the 'waitlist' sign went up and there was nothing available late september, days after public sales started and MONTHS prior to sailing. There was zero doubt THAT iteration definitely DID sell out.Tiki108 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 9:26 am

Yep, I remember that. It was unlike any previous year and we had no doubts that it was majorly different...and sold out. Not every stateroom, of course, but they were at muster-station capacity.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 11:36 amYou are absolutely correct one year - 2018 - the 'waitlist' sign went up and there was nothing available late september, days after public sales started and MONTHS prior to sailing. I actually met a former RCCL employee that had worked 70k and I asked if it was true about them over stocking the boat with booze and she said how the crew areas are so difficult to get through because the halls are just lined with cases of booze cause they have to over stock so much.Pellaz wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 1:56 am

They HAVE to have some extra unused staterooms anyway...to store the emergency backup beer supplies.
