Shiprocked announced their line-up today. Probably can rule out most, if not all of those bands.
Not that 70K really has any core bands.

Personally, I'm not bummed about missing any of those bands, though I've seen some and I like them.

An announcement of any sort would be great. Part of me was considering the Full Metal Holiday as an alternative for a while. It looks like fun. I don’t think I can make it work this year, though.

The video posted on youtube yesterday didn’t offer any new information, but still helped to build my anticipation a bit. I guess that’s their intent.

Also, Queensryche and/or Lizzy Borden would be awesome; it sucks that they’re ruled out.

I knew when I put Queensryche on my 70K wishlist that they were almost never going to do it because of their history with MORC. But yeah, emails are going out to MORC alumni from any year tomorrow with booking starting Thursday.

Agreed! I see Armored Saint and KK’s Priest listed in their lineup. Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like those bands fit better into 70K’s target demographic.

On the other hand, I do understand that people attending MORC might want a few “heavier” bands to keep their boat from blowing away in the wind (I kid, ). But couldn’t they stick with bands that (sometimes) tread the line between hard rock and heavy metal like Dokken (who I listen to occasionally, btw)? Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who really wants to see Jorn onbroad 70K, so don’t take any of this too seriously.

No, but historically, most of the bands there wouldn't fit 70K anyway. There have been a few that are crossovers (Doro and Udo for example).

The assumption, though, is that a charter/festival like MORC probably has exclusivity clauses in their contracts stating that bands that play there can't play another charter/festival in the area within a certain window. MORC is nearly always within 90 days of 70K. Plus, they tend to book more repeat bands, so there's some degree of 'loyalty' there.

They're a professional charter cruise company and are going to leverage any advantage to make money. Their promoter (Larry Morand) has a lot of contacts from the other cruises they've done (Moody Blues, Cruise To The Edge, MORC, Megacruise, etc.), so he's going to use those to make On The Blue money. For OTB, this is purely a business. That's why they leverage the fancy suites with higher costs and VIP Packages.
